maintenance

CCTV maintenanceContinued maintenance on a CCTV system is very important, although the modern digital recorder has less moving parts than its humble counterpart the VCR, your system should be periodically inspected by one of Stroud Alarm's qualified engineers.

This will maximise your investment and enable your system to provide the best possible recorded images. We are able to maintain and repair any system despite the age and condition.

After each maintenance visit a full report is compiled indicating all the checks and repairs carried out on your system. All chargeable items would be agreed prior to any works being carried out, this way there are no hidden costs.

We don't just give the camera a quick clean we carry out complete list of checks on each camera (e.g. Focus, Iris adjustment, camera settings, wiring condition, physical condition etc.)

Here is our 10 point self -check list for your CCTV.

  1. You may have noticed that your television at home is a magnet for dust.
It's the same for your CCTV monitors, VCRs and cameras; have they been cleaned recently
  2. Are the pictures clear and in focus, or are they fuzzy and it's like looking through a snow storm?
  3. Have you checked that the video is replaying properly?
Replay the tape for a few minutes each day to prove that it is working properly.
  4. Are the cameras still looking at what you wanted them to look at?
  5. Has the reason for having the system changed?
Do the views from the cameras need to change, or do the cameras need to be moved to reflect these changes?
  6. Would you like to be able to identify people entering your property?
To do this properly the image of the person should occupy the monitor from the top of their head to just below the knee.
  7. When did you last change the tape?
In accordance with the Data Protection Act Good Practice Guide tapes should be used 12 times only.
  8. When did you last check all the cameras were working?
Many modern systems can automatically bypass blank images, would you notice if a camera was not being displayed?
  9. Many CCTV systems use intruder detectors to automatically display images from cameras.
    Are your detectors operating properly?
  10. Do you expect your CCTV system to work at night?
If your system has lighting, is it functioning?
